Winter Direct speech

WINTER DIRECT SPEECH./ Winter
“How much do they get paid?” I questioned loudly.
“Umm, what was that?” Mr Carruthers asked.
“I said, How much do Ralph and Sylvia get paid?” I replied angrily.
“They get paid a lot from the estate. Why do you need to know this?” Mr Carruthers asked.
“Wait a minute, what does the estate have in any of this? What are you thinking?” I questioned in an untempered voice.
“The estate pays for their power, water…. rent.” Looking through his briefcase, he asked, “You don’t need to answer, but I’m curious.  Why are you so interested in their wages?”
“Do you notice anything in particular about the property?”I asked.
“Aaaahhh” Mr. Caruthers seemed a bit flustered.
I could feel it.  I was about to erupt!  I was so over these people ripping off my estate.  They were stealing and taking advantage of my property.  “Well enough’s enough.” I said.  “I’m over it! These two workers have let blackberries over-run the farm.  There are weeds galore everywhere.  Gorse is growing along the fenceline and Where are the antiques?!” I yelled.
“What antiques? I don’t remember any; everything is here now right this moment. What are you talking about?” Mr Carruthers replied.
“The ones in the photos. My mother had antiques and I know it so do not lie to me!” I shouted as I gazed at Mr Carruthers.
“ Well I’m sorry. I didn’t know that and I don’t know where they are.” Mr carruthers said.
“You don’t remember much do you because your brain’s a bit rusty” I replied with a sas. “They get paid a lot and they treat the place like a dump. Ungrateful” I angrily said.
“At least its not like that bad. But it’s definitely not like how it used to be. Otherwise I don’t know what you are talking about?” Mr Carruthers returned.
“Are you out of your mind man? You must be drunk or something if you will think for one minute that this place isn’t revolting. Look how they treat my home. There are Blackberries everywhere and you can’t even touch the water. ” I screamed in a confused angry voice.
“Well calm down a bit Winter, settle.” Mr Carruthers replied
“Never tell me to calm down or settle. Where’s my mother’s furniture?. You can’t just chuck them out like it’s rubbish.” I angrily replied.
I don’t understand what’s up with him he might be taking drugs or just straight stupid. I’m over it, i thought to myself.
“Nar thats it Carruthers! I want them out by five o’clock. I’ve had enough.”
“You’re being unreasonable Winter.” Mr Carruthers returned.
“ No! No! No! You’re being unreasonable mate and if they’re not out by five o’clock you are!” I yelled.

Cross Country

Jade.N Cross Country.
“GO” Whaea Rosina yelled. Jose and I ran down, round corners and hills at the cross country day on Friday. Huffing and puffing, our chest burst into flames from the hot sun.

As we came around the corner we saw Mr Lindsay and Whaea Gaylene cheering us on “ Go girls you can do it come on” encouraging us to run our best so we did. When we got to the hill we were exhausted. My heart was beating like I was about to have a heart attack. Jose looked the same way, but we kept going about a slight minute later.

As we ran up to get our mark from Whaea Meri she also cheered us
“Lets go girls 1 more lap” and we replied with a straight big sigh of
“ Ohhhhhh”. We ran down the hill I felt like I was nearly going to fall or plant my face in the slippery mud, but luckily I didn’t.
After a few more corners and stones we were back at the starting line having a quick drink and running again. This time my legs and arms were about to die. My legs wobbled like jelly, My arms slopped like the mud and my whole body felt as if it was going to collapse to the ground, but again I kept running.

Up, down, round and round almost to the end. “First place Kiritea” I heard someone yell, “second place Jose” again someone yelled then finally “Third place Jade Ngawati”. “Me I came third!” I screamed I was so rapt with what I came but at the same time drained of all energy.

I layed down where everyone else and waited for the teachers to finish their talk. Then we all walked back as a school and had our lunch free sausage sizzles and ice blocks. I got myself a toffee apple too.

Who would of thought I would come third. Thats crazy. Going back last year and I walked. I even made it in the Ohaewai cross country and I better make the most of it because its my last year. What an Awesome day.

I DID KNOCK FIRST/ Monster narrative

I DID KNOCK FIRST/ MONSTER
It’s a cold dark night. Spooky, creepy and ghostly. My feet sink under the lake’s murky depths. My green scales flick and shiver as it embraces the water’s freezing temperature. My charmeleon scales on my soul case blend with the icy dark water. My body slowly transforms into an centipede sea monster and gasp for air with my scaley, fishy nose under the frozen lake and drift through the water. I observe the nature around me, looking for something to do.

I catch movement in the center of the lake.  It looks like one of those human girls.  I slowly slither my way toward her.  Perched in the centre of a worn out wooden boat, I watch as she carelessly dumps her cigarette into my lake  “Oh no she didn’t!” Body tensing, I start grinding my teeth.  “Who the hell does she think she is?”  What does she think she's doing...polluting my lake...disturbing my home. I’ll make her pay.

Diving under, I slowly ascend toward the hull of the boat.  Stopping within an inch of it, I knock two times. I can see human girl peer over and inspect each side of the boat. She’s peering right at me.  My charmeleon scales hide me from her ugly eyes.  Man humans are hideous!

Human girl sits back and disappears into the boat again. Is she ignoring me? “Oh hell no!”  I knock even louder, banging my scales into the boat.  She bounces up, almost falling into the water.  I can see that she’s scared.  Her body starts shaking and shivering.  “Hello?  Who’s there?” I hear her whisper. It’s hard to tell if she is scared or cold.

She jumps up with her paddle in her hand. She leans over to look at me again but with my dark scaly body I’m hidden from her sight.

She tips her finger into the water - she must be dumb.  Just as fast though, her finger pops back up. She clutches the side of the boat this time.  Yup she’s afraid. Waiting a bit so she could settle, I knock again.  This time louder. Human girl grabs her paddles. “Screw this, I’m out of here” she exclaims.

It’s funny how the human girl frantically tries to paddle toward the shore.  Little does she know I’m gripping the edges of the boat with my arms.  She tries her hardest to get away, but I keep her there until she's exhausted. I can hear her crying and sobbing.  Twenty minutes pass and she’s finally calm.

I slowly descend back into the waters depths.  Coiling my body to spring, I race toward the surface, smashing the boat into pieces. Wrapping my body around her I drag her to my lair at the bottom of the lake.
Later, I find her journal floating on top of the water.  I turn to the last page. I leave a little message for any other revolting humans who want to leave rubbish in my lake….I DID KNOCK FIRST .
