Jade.N Cross Country.
“GO” Whaea Rosina yelled. Jose and I ran down, round corners and hills at the cross country day on Friday. Huffing and puffing, our chest burst into flames from the hot sun.
As we came around the corner we saw Mr Lindsay and Whaea Gaylene cheering us on “ Go girls you can do it come on” encouraging us to run our best so we did. When we got to the hill we were exhausted. My heart was beating like I was about to have a heart attack. Jose looked the same way, but we kept going about a slight minute later.
As we ran up to get our mark from Whaea Meri she also cheered us
“Lets go girls 1 more lap” and we replied with a straight big sigh of
“ Ohhhhhh”. We ran down the hill I felt like I was nearly going to fall or plant my face in the slippery mud, but luckily I didn’t.
After a few more corners and stones we were back at the starting line having a quick drink and running again. This time my legs and arms were about to die. My legs wobbled like jelly, My arms slopped like the mud and my whole body felt as if it was going to collapse to the ground, but again I kept running.
Up, down, round and round almost to the end. “First place Kiritea” I heard someone yell, “second place Jose” again someone yelled then finally “Third place Jade Ngawati”. “Me I came third!” I screamed I was so rapt with what I came but at the same time drained of all energy.
I layed down where everyone else and waited for the teachers to finish their talk. Then we all walked back as a school and had our lunch free sausage sizzles and ice blocks. I got myself a toffee apple too.
Who would of thought I would come third. Thats crazy. Going back last year and I walked. I even made it in the Ohaewai cross country and I better make the most of it because its my last year. What an Awesome day.
